THE Commission on Elections, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), is looking to proclaim the winning party-lists in this year’s elections on May 25.
In a press briefing yesterday, Elections acting spokesman John Rex Laudiangco said: “We could proceed with it (proclamation) immediately after the May 24 special elections in Lanao del Sur.”
The partial proclamation of winning party-lists was originally set yesterday at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Forum Tent in Pasay City.
It was, however, postponed by the Comelec after it was determined that the still uncanvassed votes of Shanghai in China and Lanao del Sur remain material to the computation of party-list seats.
Asked if the proclamation will be done fully or partially next week, Laudiangco said “anything is possible”.
“At this point, anything is possible. We are confident that, based on projections, it is possible that the Shanghai votes will no longer affect the results, or, if at all, it will be at the bottom part,” he said.
He, however, said that the poll body would want to make the proclamation of party-lists a full one instead of partial.
“The intention of the Comelec is really to do a complete 63 seats,” said Laudiangco.
Based on the latest National Tally Sheet for party-lists, six groups continue to be within the winners’ circle or those that have met the two percent threshold.
They are ACT-CIS (2,109,022), 1-Rider Party-list (1,000,343), Tingog (886,431), 4Ps (836,294), Ako Bicol (816,255), and Sagip (779,542).
