THE Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting yesterday said it is still looking for additional encoders for the unofficial parallel count of the May 9 election returns.
PPCRV national chairperson Myla Villanueva made the call on the eve of the local and national elections even as she said the organization is all set in its efforts to monitor the conduct of the polls.
Villanueva said 150 volunteers are needed everyday from May 9 to 15 to “help encode election returns and answer calls” for the unofficial parallel count at the PPCRV command center in the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.
Villanueva said those who want to volunteer as encoders may register at ivolunteer.com.ph.
The volunteers may also choose the schedule that they want to do volunteer work — from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. on May 9; from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 12 a.m. on May 10 to 12; and 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. from May 13 to 15.
The volunteers will encode physical copies of the election returns printed by vote-counting machines (VCMs) after polls close today.
The PPCRV is entitled to the fourth copy of the printed transmission copies of the election returns from the VCMs.
Richard Santos, floor director of the PPCRV volunteer encoders, said those who want to volunteer should be non-partisan or not affiliated or working with any political party or candidate.
They will also have to sign a waiver affirming their non-partisanship in the election.
Earlier, Villanueva said 500,000 individuals have volunteered nationwide to monitor the conduct of the local and national elections as poll watchers and voter’s assistance desk staff at various dioceses.
