NEARLY four years since assuming the post, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) chairperson Myla Villanueva is stepping down as head of the church-based poll watchdog.
In a social media post, Villanueva announced her departure as PPCRV chair, a post she has held since November 2018.
“My last duty as chair of the PPCRV is to be present to the CBCP Plenary Assembly, some 80 bishops from across the country, on July 9. I was greeted with much warmth and mutual gratitude from bishops and will treasure this experience of getting to know them,” said Villanueva.
“It was an honor and privilege to serve the most committed volunteers and citizens I will ever know. I could not have done this job well without guidance from our Lord, most of all,” she added.
Villanueva’s departure was confirmed by PPCRV chair emeritus Henrietta de Villa, who said the former’s tenure will only be until the end of the month.
De Villa said PPCRV is already launching a search for its new leader.
“Myla is stepping down end of July… she’s leaving for abroad,” she said in a text message, adding: “We’re still in search (for the) next chair… God is good. He’ll direct us to a good one.”
A pioneer in the local and global technology industry, Villanueva was elected PPCRV chair back in November 2018.
It must be noted that elected PPCRV officials have a four-year tenure in office.
