A POLICE lieutenant has been relieved from his post and detained for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman who was arrested for violating curfew in San Miguel, Bulacan on Wednesday.

Central Luzon Regional Police Director Brig. Gen. Valeriano del Leon identified the police officer as Lt. Jimmy Fegcan, 41, of the San Miguel police station.

“I ordered his immediate relief pending the investigation being conducted,” De Leon said of Fegcan.

Police said the woman was arrested by San Miguel policemen at around 2 a.m. last Wednesday for violating a town ordinance on curfew.

She was brought to the police station for further investigation but Fegcan reportedly asked her to rest in his room. It was there where the woman was reportedly raped by the police officer.

“We will not condone this misdemeanor and appropriate charges will be filed against him, both administrative and criminal, if (evidence) warrants,” De Leon said.

De Leon said the continuing campaign of PNP chief Camilo Cascolan to rid the police force of bad eggs “does not distinguish rank.”

“This is a clear manifestation of our keen determination to remove misfits among the ranks of our organization,” he said.
