DUE to the continued imposition of community quarantines in the country, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration is extending the validity of Overseas Employment Certificates issued to overseas Filipino workers.

“The public is hereby advised that the original validity or the revalidation of OECs issued to

OFWs, which expired during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) are hereby extended until all the community quarantines in the country have been lifted,” said POEA Administrator Bernard Olalia.

This means that departing OFWs with expired OECs during the period of enhanced, modified, and general community quarantine may simply proceed to the POEA issuing office at the POEA or at the Labor Assistance Center (LAC) in Philippine international airports for clearance.

OFWs with expired OECs shall be required to present the original copy of expired OEC; copy of employment contract; copy of valid work permit/visa; and valid passport.

The requirements shall then be subjected to evaluation, revalidation, and stamping of the OEC as “Cleared.”

An OEC is an exit clearance for Filipinos set to work abroad. The issuance of an OEC ensures they will be deployed abroad with the necessary legal requirements.
