THE National Police Commission has authorized the PNP to recruit this year a total of 18,179 new policemen who will be assigned in police units throughout the country.
Napolcom Vice Chairman and Executive Officer Vitaliano Aguirre II said authority was given to PNP chief Dionardo Carlos by virtue of a resolution that the body passed last January 31.
The resolution says 1,000 patrolmen and patrolwomen will be hired under the regular recruitment quota of the PNP, intended to increase the strength of the police force.
The rest will be for attrition recruitment or intended to replace personnel who were separated from the service either through retirement, resignation, death, dismissal, or going absent without official leave.
The recruits will be distributed to the regional police offices throughout the country and to the national support units, including the Criminal Investigation Group, Special Action Force, Anti-Cybercrime Group, and Anti-Kidnapping Group.
“The Commission approved the PNP’s CY 2022 Regular and Attrition Recruitment Program for Patrolmen and Patrolwomen, which will be implemented in two cycles, considering that the distribution is based on police-to-population ratio; peace and order condition; and the actual demands of the functional area,” said Aguirre.
