PNP chief Rodolfo Azurin Jr. yesterday said the PNP will implement a “major security plan” in connection with the resumption of regular face-to-face classes in public and private schools next month.
During a press conference at Camp Crame, Azurin said the security plan will be implemented by the police in coordination with school and local government officials.
“The PNP is looking ahead to the resumption of full in-person classes in private and public schools nationwide,” said Azurin.
This will be the first time full face-to-face classes will be held since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out in 2020. The government allowed limited face-to-face classes last August.
“Police units are poised to implement (a) major security plan in coordination with school officials and local government authorities for this nationwide simultaneous academic activity that is happening for the first time after almost two years due to health restrictions,” said Azurin.
Azurin said police will be deployed mainly to implement health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“Upon the guidance of national health officials, police will continue to remind the public to observe minimum public health standards in public transportation, indoor environment and crowded places,” he said.
