PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said the police force will extend financial assistance to the family of disgraced policeman Jonel Nuezca, who died of suspected heart attack at the National Bilibid Prisons last week.

“If there is one of us that gets killed or die, immediately we task the chief of police or the provincial director, field commander to reach out the family,” Carlos said in press briefing in Camp Crame. “So I gave the directive (to extend financial assistance to the Nuezca family).”

Neuzca, a staff sergeant last assigned with the Crime Laboratory of the Paranaque City police station, was dismissed from the from the service months after he shot dead her neighbors, Sonya Gregorio, 52, and her son Frank, 25, during an altercation in Paniqui, Tarlac in December last year.

The shooting incident was caught on video that went viral. A Tarlac court sentenced Nuezca to life imprisonment last August.

“It’s an amount that will help the bereaved family, help them during this time,” Carlos said.

“In the case of Nuezca, if the wake and interment will happen in Tarlac, the Tarlac PNP is now tasked to extend the assistance of the PNP.”
