PNP CHIEF Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. yesterday said the police force has generated some P619.13 million in government revenue since the full implementation of the National Police Clearance System four years ago.
In a press briefing at Camp Crame, Azurin said the implementation of the system resulted in the arrest of nearly 300 persons with arrest warrants who applied for a clearance.
“I am pleased to announce that the PNP has generated P619,136,280 over the past years of implementation of the National Police Clearance System that serves various administrative purposes and applications in public and private transactions,” said Azurin.
Azurin said a total of 4,248,178 National Police Clearances were printed and issued to applicants, including foreigners in need of the document for local employment and business operations.
He said 12,169 of these clearances were issued to workers of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) from September 25 to November 30 this year.
The government has required POGO workers to secure National Police Clearance as part of the measure to stop the rash of kidnapping of POGO workers in the country.
Many of the suspects in the kidnappings were POGO workers.
There were 15 POGO-related kidnappings in the country this year as of last September, three more than the 12 POGO-related kidnappings recorded for 2021.
