THE PNP is investigating the death of a Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) cadet who was found unconscious in one of the academy’s comfort rooms in San Narciso, Zambales early Tuesday morning.
In a statement, the PMMA said the San Narciso Municipal Police Station in Zambales is determining the cause of death of cadet 4th class Jonash Bondoc, who was found in one of the comfort rooms of the PMMA’s Alpha Company barracks at around 6:30 a.m.
Bondoc was rushed to the San Macelino District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
PMMA authorities have yet to disclose the cause of death.
The PMMA said its commandant of cadets, battalion officer, and company officer “have already tendered their courtesy resignation to give way to an impartial and speedy investigation of the matter.”
“An investigation by the PNP San Narciso is already ongoing and the PMMA Administration is cooperating and will fully cooperate with the officers of the law to find out the truth about the untimely demise of 4CL Bondoc,” the PMMA said in a statement posted on its Facebook account.
