PNP chief Guillermo Eleazar and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency chief Wilkins Villanueva have agreed to further improve coordination in the conduct of anti-drug operations.
The agreement came after a near misencounter between Quezon City Police District and PDEA operatives conducting buy-bust operations in Fairview, Quezon City last Friday.
QCPD operatives saw a group of armed men during the operation. QCPD Director Antonio Yarra said his men asked for the identities of the armed men, who introduced themselves as PDEA men.
Last February 24, QCPD and PDEA operatives figured in a misencounter while conducting buy-bust operations on Commonwealth Ave. that led to the death of two policemen, a PDEA operative, and a PDEA informant.
Eleazar and Villanueva met in Camp Crame last Saturday to discuss the incident and come up with measures to prevent a potential misencounter in the future.
“We will come up with unified operational guidelines to prevent a repeat (of the incident), Eleazar told a press briefing yesterday.
