MAJ. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr, PNP director for comptrollership, has been designated as PNP director for intelligence in a reshuffle that affected five generals.
Nartatez replaced Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr who assumed the top PNP position on Monday last week, vice now retired Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr.
Nartatez, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class 1992, was given the coveted intelligence position less than two weeks after becoming PNP director for comptrollership last April 20.
Nartatez previously served as director of the Calabarzon regional police office and director of the PNP Finance Service.
Taking over position as PNP director for comptrollership from Nartatez was Eastern Visayas regional police director Brig. Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil.
The new Eastern Visayas regional police director, vice Marbil, is Brig. Gen. Vincent Calanoga, chief of the PNP Human Rights Affairs Office.
Brig. Gen. Limuel Obon, deputy director for operations of the Bicol regional police office, was designated as the chief of the PNP Human Rights Affairs Office, replacing Calanoga.
Obon’s post as Bicol regional police office deputy director for operations went to Brig. Gen. Roger Quezada of the PNP Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit.
The reassignment of the five generals, which took effect yesterday, was signed by PNP director for personnel and records management Maj. Gen. Robert Rodriguez “by command” of the PNP chief.
In a statement, Acorda expressed confidence the five officers “will bring their expertise and experience to their respective positions and lead their units with utmost professionalism, integrity, and dedication to service.”
PNP Public Information Office chief Col. Redrico Maranan said the designation of the officers “reflect the PNP’s commitment to ensuring effective leadership and management across various units and offices.”
“The PNP remains steadfast to upholding its mandate of serving and protecting the Filipino people with utmost enthusiasm, commitment, and respect for human rights,” added Maranan.
