PNP CHIEF Archie Gamboa on Wednesday said PNP comptroller Maj. Gen. Jovic Ramos is still comatose while intelligence chief Maj. Gen. Mariel Lagaway is on the way to recovery, nearly two months after figuring in a helicopter crash in Laguna.
In an interview with dzMM, Gamboa said Ramos continues to fight for his life, adding the PNP continues to hope for the best.
“Nakakalungkot si (It is saddening) Gen. Ramos talaga, we are still praying he will be able to recover,” said Gamboa, who was with the two generals and five others in a police Bell-429 helicopter that crash-landed after hitting electric wires as they were about to leave an impounding compound in San Pedro, Laguna last March 5.
Gamboa said Magaway is now conscious, can recognize people, and is undergoing rehabilitation.
“He can recall, nakakausap na siya paminsan-minsan (He can recall and he can now talk occasionally),” Gamboa added.
Gamboa said the chopper’s two pilots and crew are also undergoing rehabilitation from injuries.
