THE plate number of the Montero sports utility vehicle used by the gunmen in Tuesday’s killing of Manila chief inquest prosecutor Jovencio Senados was registered to another vehicle, Manila Police Department chief Brig. Gen. Rolando Miranda said yesterday.
Miranda said this was the initial information gathered by investigators on the case described by Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra as a “horrible murder.”
Senados, 62, sustained multiple gunshot wounds in his head and body and died on the spot while the suspects fled the crime scene on board a black Montero SUV with plate number ABG 8113.
“We were able to get the placard of the black Montero vehicle but it was registered to another vehicle,” Miranda told radio DzBB, adding he could not provide more details so as not to jeopardize the ongoing probe.
Miranda said they are also looking at the involvement of another vehicle, a red Toyota Innova that was following the victim’s car moments before the attack took place.
Miranda said closed circuit television footage taken near the crime scene showed the Innova apparently blocked Senados’s car, allowing the gunmen on board the Montero to position and open fire at the victim.
Miranda said they coordinating with the Office of the City Prosecutor-Manila to check on the cases handled by Senados and determine if the attack was related to a case he has handled.
Guevarra earlier directed the National Bureau of Investigation to probe Senados’ killing.
