Malacañang has appointed veteran actor Tirso Cruz III as the chairperson of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
Cruz replaces Ma. Liza Diño, who was reappointed for another three-year term by former President Rodrigo Duterte as the chairperson and CEO of FDCP in March.
Cruz took his oath in front of President Bongbong Marcos, Jr. Tuesday afternoon. Another veteran actor, Jose “Johnny” Revilla was sworn in as head of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) in the same ceremony.
Before becoming MTRCB chair, Revilla served in its board.
Tirso is from the well-known Cruz clan of showbiz. In the 1970s, he and National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Aunor made up the popular Guy and Pip tandem. The 70-year-old actor remains active in showbiz and is in the cast of the long-running Kapamilya series, “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”
Revilla is the only son of the late screen legend Armando Goyena and the late Francisca “Paquita” Roces. He was last seen in ABS-CBN’s “Wildflower” (2017).
