THE Philippine Embassy in Rome has cautioned Filipinos in Italy to be wary of the possible effects of the heat wave currently affecting several European countries, particularly in the southern part of the continent.

In an advisory, the embassy cited a health alert recently issued by the Italian Health Ministry cautioning the populace, especially the vulnerable sectors, against the heat wave in some cities in the country.

The alert said the temperature may reach as high as 40 degrees Celsius and may last for several days.

Aside from Rome, similar alerts were raised in Florence to Palermo in Sicily and Bari, and in the southeast part of the peninsula.

“All Filipino nationals in Italy, especially the elderly, infants, children, and pregnant women, are advised to take the necessary precautions and to be cautious of the negative effects caused by high temperatures,” the embassy said.
