THE Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) yesterday said one of the two injured Filipinos workers in the severe flooding that hit the United Arab Emirates is in stable condition but is requiring surgery.

“According to OWWA-Dubai, Cambalon is in ICU and is already in stable condition. However, he will still require surgery due to the multiple fractures he sustained from the accident,” OWWA said in a social media post.

The agency also said it will continue to provide assistance to the two injured Filipinos.

Over the weekend, the Department of Migrant Workers reported that two male overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) sustained injuries when their vehicle fell into a sinkhole during the severe flooding.

The two injured are aside from the three OFWs who died during the flooding, with the two female dying from suffocation inside their vehicle, while one male died from injuries sustained from an accident when his vehicle fell into a sinkhole.

OWWA said personnel from its regional offices in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon regions are closely coordinating with the kin of the three fatalities for the repatriation of their remains.

“We are ready to help them in other forms of assistance necessary,” said OWWA.
