THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) yesterday warned the public on the presence of online scammers using the agency’s name.
It said there are two Facebook pages, one announcing a bogus raffle promo and another offering assistance in becoming members of the state health insurer.
“PhilHealth does not have a housing raffle promo and it does not authorize anyone to solicit money in exchange for one to become a PhilHealth member,” it said.
The Facebook page “PhilHealth Updates Online” encourages the public to “like” and “share” the page to qualify for a supposed raffle for “libreng pabahay” supposedly in line with the agency’s anniversary in February 2020.
PhilHealth said it has reported the matter to Facebook Philippines, and that the original post and its re-shared posts have since been taken down.
PhilHealth also said its Region 1 office reported that an “Efeiram Oicatse,” with Facebook page named “PhilHealth Registration Online,” offers assistance in PhilHealth membership and in securing a PhilHealth ID number for a fee of P170, to be paid through a popular chain of convenience stores using barcodes it will provide.
