WITH dengue cases surging, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) yesterday called on members not to hesitate in seeking medical attention if they are afflicted with the mosquito-borne disease.
In a social media post, PhilHealth said there are benefit packages set for dengue cases that members can avail.
“If you have dengue, there is a case rate benefit for that,” said PhilHealth, saying that the case rate package for dengue amounts to P13,000 per dengue case.
The amount includes the P9,100 for the Health Care Institution fee and P3,900 for the professional fee.
The PhilHealth issued the reminder as the Department of Health (DOH) reported that there are already 136,161 dengue cases recorded nationwide from January 1 to August 3.
“(This is) 33 percent higher compared to the 102,374 cases in the same period last year,” the DOH said.
On the other hand, the health department said 364 dengue deaths have been recorded this year, compared to last year’s 401 during the same period.
“The DOH sees the lower number of deaths this year as an indication of people seeking early consultation, and hospitals doing better case management,” it said.
