THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has enhanced several of its benefit packages for high-risk pneumonia and ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke.
“These are among the commonly availed cases by our kababayans,” said PhilHealth president Emmanuel Ledesma Jr. in a briefing on Wednesday.
For high-risk pneumonia, he said, PhilHealth coverage will now be at P90,100 (from P32,000), or an increase of 181 percent.
For ischemic stroke, the agency will now cover up to P76,000, or a 171 percent increase from P28,000, while for hemorrhagic stroke, coverage is P80,000 (from P38,000), or an increase of 111 percent.
More benefit packages will be enhanced, including those for outpatient therapeutic care for severe acute malnutrition, Z benefits packages such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, cervical cancer, and open-heart surgery for children.
“We also intend to release more benefits in the pipeline,” said Ledesma.
Earlier in the year, PhilHealth institutionalized the expansion of its outpatient hemodialysis package from 90 to 156 sessions. The upgraded package covers up to three dialysis sessions per week.
This is aside from the recent launch of PhilHealth’s outpatient mental health package through which members may be provided general mental health services packages amounting to P9,000 and specialty mental health services packages of P16,000 per person annually.
