FOR the third straight day, over 5,000 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were reported by the Department of Health, along with 208 additional deaths.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the total number of infections in the country rose to 2,756,923 counting the 5,279 yesterday that went with the 5,823 reported last Friday and 5,807 last Saturday.
The death toll climbed to 41,793 for a case fatality rate of 1.52.
The positivity rate in the country stood at 10.3 percent out of the 52,881 tests conducted last October 22.
There were 60,957 active cases, with 77.5 percent mild cases, 9.2 percent moderate cases, 6.1 percent asymptomatic cases, 5.1 percent severe cases, and 2.1 percent critical cases.
The DOH also reported 7,312 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 2,654,173. This means that 96.3 percent of COVID patients have recovered.
