DELINQUENT tax payers in Marikina won’t be assessed interests and penalties if they pay their real property taxes until December 31 this year.

This was contained in Ordinance No. 025, Series of 2023 released by Mayor Marcelino Teodoro.

Teodoro said this gives delinquent tax payers enough time to pay their RPT without worrying about interests and penalties.

“We want them to pay their taxes without having to worry about surcharge, interest, fines or penalty,” Teodoro said, adding everyone is still recovering from the effects of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the Pasig government will give assistance to informal settler families from the city who have been relocated to Tanay, Rizal.

Based on Resolution No. 55-11, series of 2023, the Pasig government will support families in three resettlement areas in Barangay Plaza Aldea in Tanay, namely, NHA Southville 10, Eastshine Residences, and Hauzville.

The ISFs residing there previously lived along the waterways and danger zones in Pasig City and Tanay, Rizal.

They were relocated due to the clearing operations conducted by the national and local governments, in accordance with the Supreme Court Mandamus on Manila Bay.

The resolution, approved last March 20 and signed by Mayor Vico Sotto, will provide basic services such as funding the salaries and allowances of personnel involved in the security, sanitation, health, school and daycare, and livelihood trainers in the relocation sites. — Christian Oineza
