A PNP unit in charge of the campaign against illegal drugs has regained control of its Facebook (FB) page weeks after losing it to hackers.

In a statement, the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) yesterday said it has instituted measures to prevent the hacking of its social media account.

“We would like to inform you that our Facebook page (PNP Drug Enforcement Group) is back in action,” said the PDEG, which is headed by Col. Dionisio Bartolome.

“After a temporary compromise, our team has successfully secured the page, ensuring a safe space for our valued community,” PDEG also said.

PDEG lost control of its FB page to hackers last December 17. The unit uses the FB page to advance its campaign against the menace of illegal drugs throughout the country.

The hackers changed the name of the page to “24 hours left, page at risk for being suspended, See Why.” They also uploaded hundreds of posts after gaining control of the FB page.

“We’ve implemented enhanced measures to prevent any future incidents and maintain a secure online environment for everyone and we’re grateful for your understanding during this brief disruption,” PDEG said.

PDEG also urged the public to follow its page so they can be updated on the war against drugs.

“To ensure you stay updated and connected, please follow our page, engage with our posts, and invite your friends to join our community,” PDEG said.
