A TOTAL of P32.44 billion worth of illegal drugs have been seized in the continuing campaign against illegal drugs under the administration of President Marcos Jr., the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported yesterday.
PDEA said the illegal drugs, mostly shabu, were seized from July 1, 2022 to February 29 this year in 58,496 anti-drug operations conducted throughout the country.
The seized illegal drugs included 4,353.81 kilos of shabu worth P29.6 billion based on the market value of P6.8 million per kilo.
Also seized were 50.51 kilos of cocaine, 54,016 ecstasy tablets, and 3,589.08 kilos of marijuana.
PDEA said 84,291 drug personalities, including 5,366 high-value targets, were arrested while a clandestine laboratory and 901 drug dens were dismantled.
It said 28,330 barangays have been cleared of illegal drugs, with 7,181 other barangays subject to drug-clearing operations.
The PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) said it made “significant accomplishments” in anti-drug operations conducted throughout the country from April 1 to 7.
“The PNP DEG conducted a series of successful operations resulting in multiple arrests and substantial drug seizures. These achievements underscore the relentless commitment of the PNP to combatting illegal drug activities and ensuring the safety of our communities,” PDEG said on its Facebook page.
PDEG said it conducted 16 operations during the period, leading to the arrest of 21 drug personalities.
Seized were 264 grams of shabu, 25 kilos of dried marijuana, 3,000 marijuana plants, and 600 marijuana seedlings with a combined worth of P5.41 million.
Police seized P204,000 worth of suspected dangerous drugs and arrested three jobless men in a buy-bust operation in Pasig City last Monday night.
Col. Celerino Sacro Jr., local police chief, identified the suspects as alias Jun, 21; Jer, 19; and Jan, 18, residents of Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City.
Seize from them were five sachets containing more or less 30 grams of suspected shabu. — Christian Oineza
