SENATORS on Monday night censured an official of an agency under the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) whom members of the Office of the Senate Sergeant-At-Arms said drank an alcoholic drink while attending a Senate hybrid budget deliberation.
Senate minority leader Franklin Drilon asked his colleagues to censure for disrespect Dominic Tajon, sales and marketing manager of APO Unit Production, who attended the Senate budget deliberation virtually.
Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian, who was the presiding officer at the time, first noticed the odd behavior of Tajon while senators discussed the proposed P1.838 billion budget of the PCOO for next year.
Calling Tajon’s attention, Gatchalian said during the session: “May I remind the PCOO team to conduct proper virtual etiquette because we can see Mr. Dominic Tajon moving around, and we saw some inappropriate pictures of individuals not clothed properly.”
“I was also informed by our sergeant-at-arms that he saw Mr. Tajon drinking alcohol,” Gatchalian added.
Soon after Gatchalian cited Tajon’s behavior, the latter went offline in what the senator said was “because I think he’s guilty of it.”
Drilon said Tajon’s action was a total disrespect to the Senate, adding that it was the first time in his 24 years as a lawmaker that a resource person had the temerity to drink alcoholic drinks while attending plenary deliberations.
