THE Presidential Communications Office yesterday urged enrolled college students who have a passion for creating short films, writing, or painting to join the different government-sponsored competitions lined up as part of the Communications Month Celebration this October.
The PCO, in several Facebook posts, made the call as it announced that it is holding a short filmmaking, song writing, essay writing, spoken poetry and mural painting competitions for college students.
In a statement, the PCO said all submissions should be original works and based on the theme “Bagong Pilipinas.” Deadline for submission is on November 20 at 5 p.m.
The PCO said the short film should be about “Ano ang Bagong Pilipinas?” and should not be longer than two minutes, including credits.
It should be submitted in either MP4 or MOV digital format and either in vertical or horizontal orientation. Subtitles should be used for entries using non-English languages.
It should be uploaded to a designated online platform such as YouTube, Vimeo, or others, as unlisted or private videos with the links sent to milc@pco.gov.ph along with the participant’s name, college name, contact information, year level, school, municipality, province, region, and a brief description of the film and the official hashtag #BagongPilipinas.
Regional winners will receive P50,000 for the 3rd placer; P75,000 for the 2nd placer; and P100,000 for the 1st placer.
The third-place national winner will receive Crane M3s Gimbal, Sony ZV E10 + Kit Lens; the second placer will receive Macbook Air M2, Sony ZV E10 + Kit Lens; while the 1st placer will win Macbook Air M2, Sony ZV E10 + Sigma 18-50 F2.8 lens, and Rode Wireless Pro.
On the other hand, for the song writing contest, the entry should be about the Filipino youth’s aspirations for a Bagong Pilipinas, or the inspirational spirit that will enable this call-to-action realization, among others, and should not exceed four minutes.
A maximum of 15 persons may participate per entry, which should include the lyricist, song writer, arranger, instrumentalists, and performers.
Entries should be in an MP3 format and emailed to milc@pco.gov.ph with the subject format: BPSONGWRITING ENTRY— TITLE OF SONG. The body of the e-mail should include the names of participants, year level, school, municipality or province or region, essay writing entry text, and song writing entry in MP3 file attachment.
Three regional winners will receive P50,000 for 3rd place; P75,000 for 2nd place; and P100,000 for 1st place; while five winners for the national level will receive P100,000 for the 5th placer; P150,000 for 4th; P200,000 for 3rd; P250,000 for 2nd; and P300,000 for first place.
Meanwhile, the PCO said entries for the essay writing contest should be in English and must not exceed 1,500 words.
Anchored on the Bagong Pilipinas goal of the Marcos administration, the piece may be about the Filipino youth’s aspirations for a new or better Philippines, or the inspirational spirit that will enable this call-to-action realization, among others.
The entries should use the 12 Times New Roman size and font, single-spaced, in PDF format and emailed to milc@pco.gov.ph with the subject format: BPESSAYWRITING ENTRY — TITLE OF ESSAY.
The body of the e-mail should include names of participants, year level, school, municipality or province or region, essay writing entry text, and essay writing entry file attachment.
