THE Philippine Coast Guard yesterday vowed to pursue administrative charges against two of its men who, along with a teacher, were caught selling shabu in Zamboanga City last Saturday.
“The PCG must be a drug-free humanitarian armed service in support of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s war on drugs,” PCG Commandant Adm. George Ursabia said.
The PCG PCG men facing administrative charges are Petty Officer 1 Ryan Manuel and Petty Officer 2 John Capuy, who are detained at the Zamboanga City police station.
Manuel, Capuy and Marites Manuel, a teacher, were nabbed by Zamboanga City policemen during a buy-bust operation in Atis Drive in Barangay Baliwasan last Saturday. They yielded 35 grams of suspected shabu worth P244,000.
Ursabia said the PCG men will be dishonorably discharged from the service if proven guilty.
“I compel fellow senior PCG officers and personnel to shepherd their subordinates towards serving with humility and compassion, and evidently, two of our senior PCG personnel’s alleged involvement in illegal drug activities is a clear dereliction of duty,” Ursabia said.
