PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. and Chinese President Xi Jinping yesterday held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) in Bangkok, Thailand.
No details were available yet about the results of the talks, their first face-to-face meeting since Marcos became president.
Before the meeting, Maros said the West Philippine Sea/South China Sea maritime issue will be one of the agenda during his meeting with the Chinese president.
Marcos said it’s impossible for him to talk to China without mentioning the West Philippine Sea issue.
He previously pushed for the adoption of a binding Code of Conduct in the South China Sea during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit in Cambodia last week to make the South China Sea a sea of peace, security, stability and prosperity and not an area of armed conflict or geopolitical discord.
Following the bilateral meeting with Xi, the President also attended the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting Gala Dinner.
