PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. yesterday led the distribution of government assistance to various sectors in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, including P88 million worth of agricultural cash aid.
The President flew to Talisay City to attend the Masskara festival late yesterday afternoon and dropped by the distribution activity before the event.
The P88 million cash assistance benefits more than 1,800 from six farmer groups in the province under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) of the Department of Agriculture (DA).
The President, the concurrent Agriculture Secretary, also turned over to local government officials palay seeds for 100 farmers, a unit of corn mill, and three units of incubators.
Marcos also led the distribution of PP5,000 to P10,000 financial aid to 100 recipients under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
“We know how difficult life is now. Prices are going up; gasoline prices are going up. The prices of all we need are going up. That’s why the government, though unable to return all, at least we can help,” he said.
He said he also wanted to personally see if the distribution of government aid is done smoothly, and to know if the national government can still help with other things the province may need.
