THE Pasig government has provided financial assistance and relief goods to 70 families or 217 individuals who lost their homes during a fire at a residential area in the city last Friday.
Mayor Vico Sotto and other city officials visited the families displaced by the fire at the Sikap Compound Ismar in Barangay Kalawaan being temporarily housed at the Ismas Covered Court Evacuation Center.
The victims were provided food, water, and other necessities.
The Pasig Public Information Office said the affected families will also receive cash assistance.
The financial aid can be used by the families to pay for initial house rentals or to buy construction materials if they own the land of their burned residence.
Land or house owners will get P10,000 while renters will receive P5,000.
The fire broke out at around 5:10 a.m. and reached the 3rd alarm before it was put out thirty minutes later.
The cause of the fire and estimated damage to property are still being determined. — Christian Oineza
