A POLICEMAN assigned in Pasig who is accused of allegedly raping a 29-year-old woman surrendered to his superiors yesterday.
Lt. Jazon Lovendino, City Police station 2 commander, escorted Cpl. Mario Maramag, 41, assigned at the Pasig Market Detachment Unit, to Pasig police headquarters.
The alleged victim has filed rape charges against Maramag.
Investigation showed that last August 1, at around 9:30 a.m., the victim went to the Pasig Market Detachment Unit on San Agustin St. in Barangay San Nicholas to ask for assistance from Maramag regarding a package that she needed to send to Isabela province.
The victim claimed the cop raped her at a motel in Barangay Bagong Ilog and was later ordered not to report her ordeal to authorities.
But the complainant went to the Pasig police headquarters to report the rape.
