PRESIDENT Duterte started his last year in office on a high note, with close to eight out of 10 persons expressing satisfaction over his performance, the first quarter survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS) from April 19 to 24 showed.

The survey, which involved 1,440 adult respondents with a margin of error of ±2.6 percent, found that 78 percent of Filipinos were satisfied with the performance of Duterte (up from 75 percent in December 2021) while 9 percent were undecided (unchanged), and 13 percent were dissatisfied (down from 15 percent).

This resulted in a net satisfaction rating of +65 (percent of satisfied minus percent of dissatisfied), a five-point improvement from +60 in December 2021. SWS classified the net satisfaction rating as “very good.”

Duterte stepped down from office last June 30.

SWS said the five-point rise was due to increases in the net satisfaction rating of Duterte across the different geographical areas, locale, gender, age and educational attainment.

The former president scored his highest net satisfaction rating in Mindanao with +83 (up from +80), followed by Metro Manila with +63 (up from +61), Luzon with +60 (up from +56) and the Visayas with +55 (up from +45).

Duterte also saw his net satisfaction rating improve in the rural areas with +65 (up from +56) and stayed at +64 in the urban areas.

It also improved to +65 (from +62) among men and to +64 (from +59) among women.

Among the different age groups, Duterte gained the highest net satisfaction score among the 18 to 24-year-olds at +70 (from +68); followed by the 25 to 34-year-olds and 35 to 44-year-olds with +68 each (up from +64 and +66, respectively); the 45 to 54-year-olds with +62 (from +61); and 55 years old and older with +59 (from +49).

He also gained the highest net satisfaction among the junior high school graduates or those who attended some college with +69 (from +66); followed by those who either had no formal education or some elementary education with +66 (from +37); college graduates with +62 (down from +71); and elementary graduate or those with some high school education with +58 (from +56).
