THE chief of police of San Simon town in Pampanga and six others were injured after a stove exploded right inside the police station on Tuesday afternoon.
Injured were San Simon police chief Maj. Leonardo Lacambra, Staff Sergeants Mary Jane Genobili and Jay-r Mabborang, and non-uniformed personnel Rolalyn Pascua, Marvin Novesteras, Rowena Ignacio Celestial, and Euis Pauig.
Police said the San Simon PNP personnel were preparing their meal using a portable stove when the butane gas exploded at around 5:30 p.m., inflicting first-degree burns on Lacambra and the others.
The injured were brought to a hospital in Apalit. Three of them have been discharged while four others, including Lacambra, are still under observation at the hospital.
Pampanga police director Col. Jay Dimaandal said an investigation is being conducted “to establish the other details.”
“I also told the chief of police to coordinate with the DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) to conduct inspection, check the quality of the butane being sold (in the town) to prevent an incident similar to the one that occurred at the San Simon municipal police station,” he said.
