PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. has appointed Rolando Macasaet as president and chief executive officer of the Social Security System (SSS), the Presidential Communications Office said yesterday.
Macasaet was named acting president and CEO in January this year, vice Michael Regino.
The PCO said the latest appointment of Macasaet, a former president and general manager of the Government Service and Insurance System (GSIS), was made on May 16.
Also appointed were Sharon Garin and Alessandro Sales as undersecretary of the Department of Energy; Kath Rina Maria Reyes, assistant government corporate counsel; Gay Jane Perez, deputy director general of the Philippine Space Agency; and Maria Rosario Cuaresma, deputy director of the Council for Welfare of Children.
Garin is a certified public accountant and lawyer. She joined public service as representative of the party-list group AAMVBIS-OWA.
Sales served as special technical adviser before he joined the DOE in 2022. He also served as vice president of exploration and production division of the Philodrill Corporation and was a senior explorationist of Comexco Inc.
Reyes is lawyer who worked at the Department of Justice, Office of the Government Corporate Counsel, and Office of the President while Perez is an associate professor and Scientist II at the Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology of the University of the Philippines Diliman.
Cuaresma served as officer-in-charge regional director of the Department of Social Welfare and Development-National Capital Region.
Marcos also named Jose Maria Salvador Concepcion III, RFM Corporation president, and Melanie Ng, executive vice president of Ng Khai Development Corporation, as members of the Micro Small Medium Enterprise Development Council representing Luzon and the Visayas, respectively.
He also designated Corazon Padiernos as member of the board of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO); lawyer Gil Carlos Puyat as acting board member of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) Production Unit, Inc., and agribusinessman Mohamad Raizuli Dimaporo as acting member of the board of the AI-Amanah Islamic Investment Bank of the Philippines.
