PRESIDENT Duterte has directed the grant of hazard pay to government personnel who physically report for work in areas under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and modified ECQ (MECQ).

The President, in signing Administrative Order No. 43 on June 1, amended Administrative Order No. 26 that granted a hazard pay of not more than P500 per day to government workers who physically report for work in areas under ECQ areas only.

Duterte cited Joint Resolution No. 4 of the Interagency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) which allowed the grant of hazard pay to government personnel exposed to hazardous situations such as, but not limited to, disease-infested places which pose occupational perils to life.

He said government employees occupying regular, contractual, casual or are under contract of service or job orders “whose services are urgently essential and who physically report for work during the period of an ECQ and MECQ are inevitably exposed to the risk of COVID-19 infection and other similar heath dangers and hazards.”

“National government agencies (NGAs) including state universities and colleges (SUCs) and government-owned or controlled corporations (GOCCs) are authorized to grant Covid-19 Hazard Pay to personnel who physically report for work during the implementation of an enhanced community quarantine and modified enhanced community quarantine in their respective work stations, in an amount not exceeding P500 per day per person,” the new AO read.
