INTERIOR and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año on Monday night said at least P79 to P80 billion worth of illegal drugs, mostly shabu, had been seized by the government in its ongoing war against illegal drugs.
Año, in his report to President Duterte during the Talk to the People address, said he will submit a more detailed report in the days to come.
He said that in anti-drug operations from December 5 to 11 alone, 940 operations have been conducted that resulted in the arrest of 1,253 suspects and the confiscation of P72.869 million worth of shabu.
He said 21 of the suspects have surrendered to authorities and “no casualty” has been reported during those operations.
“Ee estimate that the government had already confiscated P79 to P80 billion worth of shabu. I will make a more detailed report,” he said.
The President ordered Año to submit a full inventory of the illegal drugs, especially shabu, that have been confiscated in the war on drugs since his administration started in 2016.
Duterte said this can be presented as proof of the gravity of the drug problem in the country.
