COP WOUNDED
A policeman was wounded after being shot at by the passengers of a van (XCV-512) that ignored a police checkpoint in Pasig City Tuesday morning.
Col. Moises Villaceran, local police chief, said Cpl. Villamor Talosig, assigned at the QCPD Station 12, is confined at the Medical City.
The driver of the van, Joselito Delos Santos, and his son, Jason, 24, both of Caloocan, sustained injuries when their vehicle crashed into a center island while they were trying to escape. They were arrested by pursuing cops.
Recovered from them were a Taurus .9mm pistol with two magazines and several boxes of liquor.
Police said cops manning a checkpoint on the southbound lane of C5 Road in Barangay Ugong flagged down the van driven by Delos Santos. Instead of stopping, the van sped off.
As cops gave chase, they were fired upon, with Talosig being hit. His companions returned fire and Delos Santos lost control of the van, which slammed into a center island. — With Christian Oineza
