OPERATIVES of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (DEG) yesterday seized over P5 billion worth of shabu during an anti-drug operation in Marilao town in Bulacan.
A Chinese drug trafficker and two Filipinos were arrested in the operation, said DEG chief Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr.
Initial reports said policemen conducted a buy-bust operation in barangay Lias at around 3 p.m.
Caramat said a search of the warehouse led to the discovery of the 756 kilos of shabu worth P5.14 billion and the P1 million boodle money used as buy-bust money. The drugs were packed in 63 boxes.
The arrested suspects were identified as Chinese Yuwen Cai, and Filipinos Angela Moile Yulio and Maria Lyn Miole Tulio.
“We placed them under surveillance, and we successfully gained their trust (through two test buys),” said Caramat.
“This is our third transaction and we were able to locate their warehouse. We gained their trust prior to this operation,” he added.
PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa rushed to the scene to inspect the seized drugs.
