Cortez was arrested last Monday afternoon in Barangay Mactan in Lapu-Lapu City. Seized from him were 2.1 kilos of suspected shabu worth P14.28 million.

Police said Cortez admitted during questioning that he is getting the shabu that he is selling from one “Balo,” a former detainee at the Mandaue City Jail.

Central Visayas police director Brig. Gen. Roderick Alba said: “Our message has been consistently clear, illegal drugs and drug dealers are not welcome in this region.”

Alba commended policemen involved in the series of successful anti-drug operations.

Alba said Western Visayas regional police office is working 24/7 in the region “to safeguard and steered away from drugs and crimes the people of Central Visayas.”
