P456K released to flood victims in South Cotabato, Zambo Sur

THE government has already released more than P456,000 worth of aid to families affected by flash floods in South Cotabato and Zamboanga del Sur early this week, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said yesterday.

Data from the DSWD-Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) said that as of July 18, a total of 25 families have been evacuated from Tampakan in South Cotabato due to flooding.

The families, composed of around 125 persons, are now staying in evacuation centers or with relatives.

A total of P436,579.72 worth of aid has been provided by DSWD and the local government.

In Zamboanga del Sur, P20,077.52 worth of aid has been provided to 1,966 families or 9,829 persons affected by floods in Pagadian City, Tambuli and Zamboanga City brought about by continuous rain.

There were no evacuations but DSWD continues to monitor the situation in the province.

DSWD is also closely monitoring the situation in Barangay Nabitasan in Leganes, Iloilo due to the surge of seawater during a high tide that caused flooding in residential areas that affected 385 families or 1,925 persons.

The DSWD-Field Office VI in Western Visayas is now coordinating with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of Leganes for possible requests of augmentation assistance needed by the affected families.

The DSWD has over P334.035 million worth of Quick Reaction Fund (QRF) that is ready to be tapped if needed.

The DSWD Field Office IV-A in Calabarzon has released P210,000 worth of financial assistance to families of those who died and those who were injured during a landslide in a construction site in Barangay Kaybagal Central, Tagaytay City last July 11.

A P25,000 burial assistance in addition to P10,000 cash aid has been provided to the families of the six construction workers who died, while P10,000 medical assistance has been provided to two who were injured. Field Office IV-A social workers will also conduct psycho-social processing to the bereaved families.
