P4.8M shabu seized, 11 suspects nabbed

A SALES lady and her two companions were arrested by anti-narcotics operatives after selling half-a-kilo of suspected shabu, with a street value of P3.4 million, to a poseur buyer on Saturday in Novaliches, Quezon City.

Eight other persons were also arrested in anti-drug operations in Pasig, Marikina and Cainta, Rizal yesterday, with cops seizing over P1.4 million worth of suspected shabu.

PDEA-National Capital Region chief Joel Plaza identified those arrested as Karen Leal, alias Michelle, 32, a sales lady; John Rhens Timing, 20; and Jason Ymalay, 26, all residents of Novaliches, QC.

Plaza said the suspects were nabbed at around 4:30 p.m. at a convenience store in Barangay Kaligayahan, Novaliches after they handed the drugs to a PDEA agent who posed as a buyer.

Plaza said the three also yielded a cell phone and the buy-bust money.

Brig. Gen Johnson Almazan, Eastern Police district director, identified the eight as Noralyn Bundas, 21; Paulino Suplet, 46; William Tanao Jr., 40; Jack Dela Paz, 42; Lea Jolo, 43; Arnelio Hernandez, 46; Michael Sy, 44; and Rodel Salasibar, 48.

Recovered from them were 18 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 213.69 grams.

Meanwhile, two suspected drug peddlers were killed in a firefight with government troops in Datu Paglas town in Maguindanao on Friday, the military’s Western Mindanao Command reported.

Authorities recovered from the suspects an M14 rifle, an M16 rifle, bandoliers, and magazines, said Wesmincom spokesman Maj. Arvin Encinas.

The suspects died in a law enforcement operation jointly conducted by the Army’s 40th Infantry Battalion, PDEA-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Mindanao, and PNP in barangay Lipao in Datu Paglas town last Friday. — With Christian Oineza
