OVER 54,000 students from private schools nationwide have received a cash subsidy of P5,000 each as part of the government’s cash aid, according to Commission on Higher Education chairman Prospero de Vera III.
In all, De Vera said close to P300 million has been released to students from 927 private schools for their tuition and miscellaneous fees.
He said this is part of the Bayanihan 2 for Higher Education Tulong Program being implemented by the agency.
On September 11, 2020, the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2) or Republic Act 11494 was signed into law by President Duterte to jumpstart the economy and provide additional amelioration assistance to Filipinos affected by the COVID pandemic. — Noel Talacay
