P3.5M smuggled meat products seized

THE Bureau of Customs yesterday seized two containers of misdeclared pork and other meat products estimated to be worth P3.5 million.

The seized products, which arrived at the South Harbor last Oct. 12 from China, were consigned to Jeniti International Trading and were processed by Customs Broker Arlene De Mateo Gonzales.

Based on initial report, the consignee declared the shipment as tomato paste and vermicelli with duties and taxes of P288,576.

On examination of the shipment last Friday, the customs examiner found an estimated P3.5 million worth of pork and other meat products.

A Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) was issued yesterday.
