POLICE operatives arrested two suspected drug dealers who yielded 3.8 kilos of suspected shabu worth P25.8 million in Caloocan City last Saturday, it was reported yesterday.
The suspects — Edgardo Vargas, 42; and Lenard Buenaventura, 20 — were described as “high-value individuals” in the continuing war against illegal drugs.
They were arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by operatives of the Caloocan City police station and the PNP’s 3rd Mobile Force Company in Barangay 160, Caloocan City at dawn Saturday.
Aside from the 3.8 kilos of shabu, the suspects also yielded a cal. 22 handgun, a magazine and five rounds of ammunition.
Police said the operation was conducted in response to information provided by a “confidential informant” about the illegal activities of the suspects.
National Capital Region Police Director Maj. Gen. Edgar Alan Okubo commended the policemen for the arrest of the suspects, who face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Okubo urged NCRPO policemen to remain relentless in the campaign against illegal drugs and criminal activities in Metro Manila.
“Let us continue our intensified operation against illegal drugs and other crimes in Metro Manila. Let us keep the region peaceful and safe at any given time,” said Okubo.
