A SUSPECTED pusher was nabbed while 30 kilos of suspected shabu with a street value of P204 million were seized in an operation conducted by joint police operatives in Pasig City on Monday night.
The suspect, identified as Manolito Lugo Carlos alias Lito or Tonge, is reportedly connected with another drug pusher identified as Edgardo Alfonso, who died in a drug buy-bust operation in Quezon City last Sunday.
Police seized suspected shabu worth P27.2 million from Alfonso, who reportedly served as a sub-dealer for Carlos, according to police.
NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said Carlos and Alfonso are distributors of a convicted drug lord detained at the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City. Eleazar, however, did not identify the drug lord.
“This is proof that although drug lords are detained, they are able to operate and push transactions by giving instructions to their henchmen outside the jail,” Eleazar said.
Armed with a search warrant issued by a Pasig City court, combined operatives from the NCRPO Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and Pasig City Station Drug Enforcement Unit, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, swooped down on the Sorrento Oasis Residences on C. Reymundo Ave., in Barangay Rosario at about 7:40 p.m. and found the shabu packed in Chinese tea wrappings of one kilo each.
Police also recovered drug paraphernalia and bank deposit slips indicating the alleged amount of remittances as payment for the illegal drugs.
Eleazar said the drug haul is the biggest so far for the NCRPO.
“Our drug enforcement agencies should take a deeper look as to how and why such volumes of illegal drugs enter the country and are even distributed in the heart of Metro Manila,” Eleazar said. — with Christian Oineza
