ANTI-DRUG operatives arrested a suspected importer of three kilos of shabu worth P20.4 million in an interdiction operation at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City last Monday afternoon.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) identified the suspect as Mohammad Bagatao, alias Joseph Acogido, 51, a resident of Barangay San Francisco Del Monte in Quezon City.

Bagatao was nabbed by operatives of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) at around 5 p.m. shortly after he claimed the package.

The PDEA and the PNP Drug Enforcement Group are among the law enforcement agencies that compose the task group.

The package contained three kilos of shabu hidden in three self-sealed transparent plastic pouches.

Apart from the shabu, also seized from Bagatao were several pieces of non-drug evidence, including several government identification cards.

Bagatao, who is currently under the custody of PDEA, faces charges under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, specifically for the importation of dangerous drugs.
