THE Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) yesterday warned the public, especially overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families, against unscrupulous individuals illegally using the name of the agency’s logo and the name of its officials to gain financial benefit.
In a public advisory, the OWWA said the public should be vigilant against scammers looking to gain money and properties from unsuspecting victims.
“Beware of scammers that are using the name of OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio and the OWWA logo to acquire money and properties through the services and programs of OWWA,” said OWWA.
The agency also cautioned the alleged scammers of possible charges for their actions.
“Anyone who uses the name of OWWA to swindle others will be charged,” said OWWA.
The agency called on the public to report scams to the following: legal@owwa.gov.ph; mobile No./Viber: +639175805720; or landline: (8) 551-6638.
