Over 800 gain employment in DOLE job fairs

OVER 800 jobseekers successfully gained employment during the first wave of the 90th Anniversary job fairs of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) held from December 1 and 4.

In a statement, DOLE said 806 job seekers were hired on the spot (HOTS) during the first three days of the activity held in 14 job fair sites around the country.

This is 13.13 percent of the 6,138 job seekers who trooped to the job fairs held in the National Capital Region (NCR), Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, and Caraga.

Aside from the HOTS, DOLE said there were also 440 applicants referred to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority for skills training.

Another 290 participants were also referred to the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns for livelihood assistance.

The labor department said 167 were also referred to the Department of Trade and Industry for entrepreneurship development.

DOLE said more individuals will have the opportunity to find jobs as nine more job fairs are scheduled until December 14.

In the National Capital Region, job fairs are set at the Malabon Sports Complex, Malabon City (December 6); Vista Mall, Taguig City (December 6); Barangay Hall, Barangay Poblacion, Pateros (December 7); and Barangay Sta. Ana, Pateros (December 7).

Job fairs are also scheduled at the Pangasinan Provincial Capitol, Lingayen (December 7); SM City Iloilo, Iloilo City (December 7); Poblacion, Madridejos, Cebu (December 6); SM Seaside, Cebu City (December 8); and Notre Dame of Marbel University (December 14).

DOLE organized a series of job fairs from December 1 to 14 as part of its 90th Anniversary celebration.
