FOR the third time in four days, over 7,000 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were reported by the Department of Health (DOH) while 166 more patients succumbed to the deadly virus.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the 7,228 new cases do not include figures from three laboratories that did not submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last June 4.
Last Thursday, there were 7,217 new cases, followed by 7,450 additional cases on Friday and 6,955 on Saturday.
Overall, infections in the country have ballooned to 1,269,478 while the death toll rose to 21,898 for a case fatality rate of 1.72.
There were 59,337 active cases, of which 93.5 percent are mild cases, 2.4 percent asymptomatic cases, 1.7 percent severe cases, 1.3 percent critical cases, and 1.1 percent moderate cases.
The DOH reported 7,372 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 1,188,243.
This means that 93.6 percent of patients have recovered.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said it received no new report of any overseas Filipinos who contracted or succumbed to the deadly virus.
As of Saturday, June 5, DFA data showed 19,878 Filipinos in 94 countries have who contracted the deadly virus while 1,194 have died.
The data also showed 12,056 recoveries, leaving 6,628 still undergoing treatment.
Most of the cases and deaths among overseas Filipinos happened in the Middle East and African regions with 11,350 and 789, respectively. — With Ashzel Hachero
