Over 7K cases for 3rd straight day

FOR the third straight day, over 7,000 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were reported by the Department of Health (DOH) while the death toll continued as 139 more patients succumbed to the deadly virus.

In its bulletin yesterday, the DOH said there were 7,058 new infections that did not include figures from four laboratories that failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last May 28.

Last Friday, 8,748 new cases were reported while 7,443 more were tallied on Saturday.

Overall, the number of infections in the country rose to 1,223,627 while the number of deaths climbed to 20,860 for a case fatality rate of 1.70.

Active cases rose to 53,757, with 93.2 percent mild cases, 2.3 are asymptomatic cases, 1.8 percent severe cases, 1.4 percent critical cases, and 1.2 percent moderate cases.

There were 6,852 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 1,149,010, meaning 93.9 percent of patients have recovered.
